South Africa - World Cup 2010

The trip of a lifetime!  J and I recently made a whirlwind (17 hour flight) 5 day trip to South Africa...full of soccer and safaris. We attended the U.S. vs. Slovenia game at Ellis Park stadium in Johannesburg with vuvuzela in hand.   U.S. played a great game the second half, scoring 2 goals.  But as everyone knows, the refs did not count their winning goal, resulting in a 2-2 tie.

GO USA! Team huddle before the game.

Zakumi - 2010 World Cup Mascot.  He is a football (soccer) loving leopard. :)  If you are interested here is some info about this cute little guy: Zakumi's Bio

For the full World Cup experience, we have included the serenade of the vuvuzelas....
This goes on the entire game.
(Turn your volume down now!)

We enjoyed the safari and wildlife just as much as the World Cup experience.  We visited the Pilanesberg National Park, which is about a 2 hour drive from Johannesburg.  From our open air vehicle, we were able to see elephants, lions, rhinos, baboons, crocodile, and more!

Athens, GA in South Africa!?

Looking for a good movie??? Invictus is great film about South Africa and its people.

4 Hour Visit To The Big Apple

Hagstrom 450176 New York City Taxi And Limousine Drivers Guide

Welcome to New York, New York!

Our first New York cab driver was the newest driver in the city.  After 5 loops around the same street, and consulting his Guide for Taxi and Limo Drivers, the driver finally deposited us at the correct hotel.  With only a few hours to spare, we found a more seasoned cab driver and headed to the city.

Great Italian Restaurant!!!!
